Octopii (“Octopii,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a social networking application owned and operated by Octopii LLC, which acts as the data controller for purposes of applicable data protection laws. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect personal information when you use the Octopii mobile application (the “App”).

By using Octopii, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

When you create an account or use Octopii, we collect information you choose to provide, including:

  • Account information (such as username, email address if provided, and profile details)

When you use the App, we collect certain information automatically, including:

  • Device information (device type, operating system, app version)

  • Location data, including approximate or precise location, where necessary to support core features of the App

Location data is collected only with your permission through your device settings and is used to provide location-based functionality and improve the user experience.

  • Send one-time passcodes (OTPs) or verification messages via SMS for account registration, login, and security verification

  • Authenticate users and help prevent unauthorized access

  • Provide, operate, and maintain the Octopii App

  • Improve and develop new features and user experiences

  • Monitor performance, prevent fraud or abuse, and maintain platform security

  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms and policies

SMS messages are limited to authentication, security, and account-related purposes only. Message frequency varies based on usage. Standard carrier messaging rates may apply.
We do not use phone numbers for marketing messages without your explicit consent.

3. Public and Private Content

  • Public posts are visible to other users and may be viewable by anyone, depending on your settings.

  • Private posts and private messages are intended to be visible only to you and the recipients you select.

While we do not routinely access private content, we may review content when reasonably necessary to comply with legal requirements, enforce our policies, or address safety and security concerns, as permitted by law.

4. Advertising and Analytics

Octopii does not currently display advertisements and does not sell personal information.

We may introduce advertising or sponsored content in the future depending upon infrastructure costs. If we do:

  • Advertising may be contextual or based on limited information permitted by law

  • We will not engage in cross-app tracking without user consent where required

  • We will comply with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency framework

  • We will update this Privacy Policy to reflect material changes and notify users as required by law

5. Sharing of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may share personal information in limited circumstances, including:

  • With service providers who perform services on our behalf (such as hosting, SMS delivery for authentication, analytics, customer support, or moderation), subject to confidentiality and data protection obligations

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent

Octopii is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that such information has been collected, we will take steps to delete it.
